Bermuda is a self-governing British Overseas Territory located in the middle of the North Atlantic. Often mistaken for being in the Caribbean, the closest point of land is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and a flight to Boston or New York takes less than 2 hours. The proximity to the U.S. leads to a juxtaposition of US influence and British tradition. The Bermuda dollar is pegged to the US dollar and the electrical supply is 110 volts. However our favourite sport is cricket and afternoon tea is served at 4 o’clock in most hotels and many homes.
Bermuda’s population is approximately 62,000 and, with 22 square miles to share, manners are a must! A greeting is expected before any business takes place, whether you are buying groceries, getting on a bus or simply passing someone on the street. Bermudians are proud of their island, its history and beauty and are always willing to assist visitors, whether with directions or a suggestion of where to get the best fish sandwich. We want you to feel at home in our home.
