Clearwater Beach and Cooper's Island Nature Reserve
Clearwater Beach and Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve are located at the south-eastern end of Bermuda, in St. Davids. The beaches and 12 acres of unspoiled and beautiful nature reserve were once part of the American military base which was built during WWII. Cooper's Island was home to a NASA tracking station.
There is a playground next to Clearwater Beach as well as a seasonal beach bar offering food, drinks, rentals, kayaks and hydrobikes in the warmer months.
Explorers will find a string of soft-sand beaches stretching along the quiet and serene nature reserve and a viewing tower, great for bird watching. There is a walking trail through woodlands on the south-west shore of the peninsula with views of Castle Harbour. A rehabilitation project is underway in the reserve which includes restoration of Bermuda's native and endemic species.
Take bus route number 6 from St. George's.
