Carter House

Southside Road, St David's, St Georges Parish, Bermuda

Carter House was built in the 17th century by descendants of Christopher Carter, a passenger on the Sea Venture, which shipwrecked on Bermuda's shores in 1609. The museum is home to the St. David's Historical Society and highlights the unique culture and history of St. David's Island, which remianed without a bridge to the mainland until the 1920's. An authentic "mud and stud" settlers' dwelling was constructed next to the house to demonstrate the first houses built in the early 1600's.
